Born in a neighborhood, built on biscuits
Flying Biscuit Cafe started as a spirited neighborhood spot and grew into a Southern breakfast institution. More than 30 years later, that same warmth lives on right here in Birmingham.
The first café: Candler Park, 1993
Flying Biscuit Cafe opened its doors in Atlanta's Candler Park neighborhood in 1993, and that first café became the foundation for everything that followed. Colorful, community-spirited, and completely unpretentious — that identity stuck.
The food that made us famous
The Flying Biscuits and Shrimp & Creamy Dreamy Grits became the dishes people drove across town for — and still do. Every plate is a celebration of Southern-inspired breakfast and brunch done right.
Growing across the Southeast
What started as one neighborhood café grew into a family of restaurants across the Southeast, each carrying the same spirited murals, vibrant atmosphere, and genuine hospitality. The footprint expanded, but the neighborhood feeling never left.
Birmingham's turn, October 2019
In October 2019, Flying Biscuit Cafe opened at The Shops of the Colonnade. Birmingham has been waking up to biscuits, grits, and all-day breakfast ever since.
